Software developer WMS gaming has been creating video slot machine games since 1994, and certain features have become trademarks of WMS games. The Napoleon and Josephine slots title bears a number of these: colourful, beautifully detailed graphics and animations, celebratory music and showers of coins and gems to mark big wins, stacked symbols and bonus free spin features to increase prizes, and the same tendency, displayed in their series of Monopoly-inspired titles, to create themes that are not over-used in the slots market.
Napoleon and Josephine is set in a time when the young Bonaparte was a military hero, rather than the greedy despot devoted to conquering and looting Europe that he became. In this title, he’s still the saviour of post-Revolutionary France, a man of the people devoted to his beautiful wife Josephine, living in the splendour that had been wrested from the monarchy. The icons on the five-reel, four-row grid are rendered in the glowing colours of jewels and precious metals, and when four Napoleon symbols stack on a reel, the young general on his white horse makes an impressive picture.
Multiple WMS Innovations Featured
Napoleon and Josephine is one of WMS’ G+ Deluxe series, so it features synchronised audio and lighting effects, amped-up Win animations and detailed icons, and a reel screen that is 30% larger. The game also allows the Napoleon symbol to pay left to right or right to left in combinations, beginning on Reel 1 or Reel 5.
WMS has made the game available with 40, 50 or 100 paylines, in English, Mandarin, French, Portuguese and Spanish. The game can be found on the Bluebird2, Bluebird 2e and Bluebird xD platforms in land-based casinos, and can also be accessed online and via mobile like a lot of games recommended at https://canadiancasinosites.org.
Stacked Symbols Increase Potential Wins
In common with several other WMS titles, Napoleon and Josephine does not use the Poker symbols 9 to A. Instead, the low-value icons are the four card suits: Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts and Spades. All the other items are theme related, from the highest-value symbol, Napoleon, to the Bonus icon, his empress Josephine, and including other signs of wealth from the period, like a carriage, a jewelled necklace, a military medal, a tiara, and a palace.
All the symbols apart from the card suits can arrive stacked in regular play, filling two, three or even all four positions on a reel. This feature allows players to create multiple winning paylines on a spin more often than they expect.
Bonus Triggers can Vary
Napoleon’s beloved Josephine is the Scattered Bonus symbol, and three, four or five Scatters anywhere on the reels will score the players 10, 20 or 50 free spins, respectively. However, Josephine can also arrive accompanied at random by a number: +2, +5, +10, +20 or +50. If a Scatter bearing one of these additions is part of a triggering spin for a bonus round, the number displayed is added to the number of free spins the player gets.
The Wild symbol, aptly enough a cannon, also occurs more often during free spins rounds, sometimes in stacks filling the whole reel. Combined with stacked Napoleons scoring left to right or right to left, the Wild’s substitution role can generate big wins in bonus play.
